Cielo Sommerso translates to Submerged Sky. We felt this was the perfect metaphor for wine that harvests organic, sun soaked, grapes before fermenting them in the earth.
Traditional, bio-dynamic wine making is a passion for Massimo and Pascale. So much so, that they adhere to the ancient artisanal technique of ageing their wine in clay pots buried in the earth for up to eight months.It was this unique technique that sparked the idea for our packaging design. We developed a unique mixture of earth (from the vineyard) and glue to create a dipping clay which formed a tactile seal – bringing the ageing method to life in a visceral way. We then commissioned an artist to paint a sky for the label, before flipping the layout upside down to signal the submerging of the sky.
